Funeral Services will be 12 Noon on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Frederic A. “Fred” Poplinski, age 67, of Sartell, who died peacefully on Monday at his home. Burial will take place at Acacia Cemetery in Clearwater. Relatives and friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Friday and after 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Fred was born April 20, 1939 in Long Prairie, MN to Al and Jean (Kulick) Poplinski. He grew up in Browerville, during which time he developed his love for music and outdoor sportsmanship, which he carried with him throughout his life. After he graduated from Browerville High School, he became a Police Officer in Little Falls for the next 20 years, while also running his fur and wild rice businesses. During this time he was dedicated to raising his three children with wife Linda. After retiring from the police force he ventured into many other businesses and interests. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Rice where he volunteered his time with the Color Guard and was a member of the Minneapolis Police Band lending his gift of music. Some of his life-long passions included cooking, dancing, astronomy, science, skydiving, history, traveling, horticulture and being a “financial news junkie”. Fred loved spending time with his children and granddaughters Lindsay and Anna, instilling into them the same passions that he had in life including hunting and appreciating nature. He was their biggest fan. Fred is survived by his wife Deaun, twin children Shari (Joe) and Rick (Boni), son Lee, four grandchildren, brother Michael (Charlotte) and sister Mary Jean. He also leaves behind his special dog companions Sally and Tipper. Preceding him in death are his parents. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his storytelling, simple ways and sense of humor that was second to none.
