Anna Mae Smoley

June 9, 1924 – May 16, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Stephen for Anna Mae Smoley, age 90 of St. Stephen who passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Robert Harren will officiate. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.

 

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the St. Stephen Parish Hall in St. Stephen. Parish prayers will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the parish hall in St. Stephen. Arrangements were made by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Anna Mae was born on June 9, 1924 in Albany, Minnesota to Anton and Elizabeth (Hoppe) Pohlman. She married Alex R. Smoley on November 24, 1943 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Anna Mae drove school bus for Trobec’s Bus Service for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Stephen parish, Christian Women and a life member of the St. Stephen American Legion Post #221 Auxiliary.

Anna Mae will be loved and missed by all who knew her kindness and wit.

Anna Mae is survived by her children, Don of St. Stephen, Ray (Anita) of St. Stephen, Kristine Smoley (Bob Schlicht) of St. Cloud; son-in-law, John (Nancy) Melancon of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Maggie (Mike) Calhoun, Mike (Emily) Melancon, Toni Melancon, Jay (Mary) Melancon, Sandy (Bo) Stern, Brad (Andrea) Scheppler, Kari Smoley, Noelle (Heath) Schubert, Sarah Smoley, Ashley Smoley, Hope Schlicht, Troy Schlicht; and great grandchildren, Brooke, Abby, Claire, Sylvie, Theo, Nathan, Aaron, Talia and Aiden; and sister, Patty Schuneman of St. Stephen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex; daughters, Carol Melancon and Bonita Scheppler; sisters, Mildred Pohlman, and Rita Pogatschnik; brothers, Hubert and Robert.
