Anna May Lauer

November 12, 1933 – September 18, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Anna May Lauer, age 82, who passed away Sunday, September 18. She had been a resident at Legacy Place in Sauk Rapids since December 2015 but lived most of her life in St Joseph, MN. Fr. Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate and burial will be at St Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in St. Joseph.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21 and one hour prior to services on Thursday, both in the Heritage Hall at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Heritage Hall.
Anna May was born November 12, 1933 in St Martin, MN to Peter and Anna (Buermann) Ehresmann. She lived in St. Martin for a couple of years until the family moved to Richmond, MN and settled there.
On August 31, 1954 she married Arnold Lauer of Eden Valley, MN. They made their home in St Joseph and together raised five children: Mary (Dave) Menzhuber of St Joseph, Mark (Nona) of Sartell, Kevin (Dana) of Alexandria, David of Sartell, and Karen (Eric) Baskin of Urbandale, IA.
Anna May worked as a homemaker for most of her life, and also cleaned homes for others during her middle age years. She was a devout member of the Church of St Joseph, until she and Arnold moved to RealLife Cooperative in St Cloud in 2009. She belonged to the St Joseph Lioness Club. In addition to being an amazing housekeeper and cook, Anna May also enjoyed spending time with her quilting group, which helped raise funds for the annual St Joseph Fourth of July Bazaar.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold, of 62 years, her children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, her brother Greg Ehresmann, sisters Eileen Kremers and Marie Glieden, and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Grace Baskin, brothers Hub, Al, Ray, and Richard Ehresmann, her cousin Herb Blonigen, and sisters Hildegarde Fischer, Julie Schutz, Viola Van Beck, Lucille Chromey, and Lillian Ruegemer.
