Bonnie Hunstiger

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Mary’s Cathedral (Upper Church) in St. Cloud for Bonnie Hunstiger, 96, of St. Cloud, who passed away on June 29, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Community in Sauk Rapids. The Reverend Scott Pogatchnik will officiate. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. on Friday, all at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Bonnie was born on May 6, 1921 to Claude and Catherine (Latzke) Fessenden and married Ralph (Dan) Hunstiger on July 3, 1943. She graduated from Tech High School in 1939. Bonnie was an OB Technician at the St. Cloud Hospital and later was a 25 year volunteer as a surgery hostess and patient representative. She was a past President of the Hospital Auxiliary and chair of the Holly Ball. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Eagles Auxiliary, St. Frances Mission Group at St. Michael’s Church and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she volunteered at the school for several years assisting second graders with reading and spelling skills. Bonnie enjoyed reading and spending time at the “Cabin.” In later years she liked watching the Wild, Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Gloria) of Port Wing, WI, Joel (Kathy) of Sauk Rapids, Jeff (Judy) of Rice, Lynn (Michael) Seethaler of St. Michael, Kurt (Ruth) of Sauk Rapids, Kent (Lori) of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph (Dan); her parents; and her siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd Community in Sauk Rapids for the excellent care that she received. Thank you also to Dr. Barbara Bollinger at CentraCare Clinic in St. Cloud.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Poor Clares Monastery in Sauk Rapids.
