Bonnie L. Statz

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Bonnie L. Statz, age 90 of St. Cloud who passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at her home. Her son Reverend James Statz and Reverend Thomas Knoblach will con-celebrate. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be 5:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Bonnie was born April 14, 1925 in Perry, Oklahoma to Hayes and Mary (Dupy) Ohler, the oldest daughter of six children. She met Dick Statz during WW II; they were married on April 23, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She moved on blind faith and love to Minnesota following her husband back to St. Cloud and converting to the Catholic faith. Bonnie was one of very few women who never learned to drive, but somehow raised 11 children. She created a warm, loving environment for all the children of the neighborhood; it was truly an open door policy at her home.
Bonnie couldn’t draw a stick person, couldn’t carry a tune, had little to no rhythm, but she threw crayons on the dining room table and many of her children to this day love the fine arts.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Bob (Kathy) of Onamia, Rick (Kate) of Boulder, Colorado, Sandie of St. Cloud, John (Teddy) of Apple Valley, Reverend James of Lowry, Mary (Roger) Bzdok of St. Cloud, Ben (Angel) of Sauk Rapids, Barbara (John) Gagliardi of Hudson, Wisconsin, Joe (Jennifer) of South St. Paul, Ann of St. Cloud and Ted (Marisol) of St. Cloud; 44 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Norman of Binghamton, New York, Patricia Roger of Norman, Oklahoma, Touie of Oklahoma, Martha Young of Oklahoma and Barbara Tanner of Seattle, Washington.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Dick on March 10, 1994.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
