Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Cecelia Rodriguez-Cotton, 89 of St. Cloud and formerly Dunseith, North Dakota will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Dunseith. Cecelia passed away peacefully with loved ones at her side on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. A wake will be held on Sunday, beginning at 6:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. in the Church. Reverend Mark Wheelan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
Cecelia Cree was born on October 25, 1924 in Dunseith, North Dakota to the late Charlie Jr. and Rose (St. Claire) Cree. She married Gilbert Rodriguez in November 1943 in Pontiac Michigan. They raised their family in both Dunseith, North Dakota and Pontiac, Michigan. Cecelia was employed as a professional seamstress for Hudson’s/Dayton’s and also Osman’s Men’s Clothing Store in Michigan. While in Dunseith she was a nurse’s assistant at San Haven. After the passing of Gilbert in 1991, Cecelia moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota to be near family. She met and married Carlos Cotton in August 1997. He passed away in 2001. Cecelia moved to Carefree Assisted Living, St. Cloud in 2001 and to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in 2012. She was a member of the Blessed Mother’s Blue Army since 1959. A member of St. Michael’s Parish in Dunseith, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud.
Cecelia enjoyed numerous arts and crafts, sewing, crocheting, jewelry making, beading, bingo, reading and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Leslie Rodriguez of Dunseith, ND, Esther Rodriguez (Doug Hubbell) of St. Cloud, Raymond Rodriguez of St. Cloud, and David (Doreen) Rodriguez of Waterford, MI; 17 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; children, Alfie, Ronald and Gilbert Manuel Rodriguez Jr, Donna Rodriguez-LaRocque; one great grandson; brothers, Norman and Walter Cree; and sister, Sylvia (Cree) Morin.
