Daryl was born May 21, 1964 in St. Cloud to Sylvester and Dolores (Kutzman) Kalla. He attended McKinley Elementary School in Waite Park, Apollo High School in St. Cloud, and St. Cloud State University. He had been employed as a School Bus Driver, worked at Master Radiator in Waite Park and was now employed by Dolphin.

Daryl enjoyed scouting, camping, and jet skiing. He loved the open road and seeing the country while traveling in his red van. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and in his adulthood was involved with the Order of the Arrow. He spent many hours of volunteering with the scouts and enjoyed cooking for large groups at scouting events. Daryl was very knowledgeable with computers and technology. He had an avid interest in alternative energy sources and enjoyed gardening and freezing produce from his garden. Daryl was a man of many interests, hobbies and talents, some of which he learned from his dad. He was very skillful in home repairs and auto maintenance. After the death of his father, Daryl was very dedicated to the care and well-being of his mother and was doing an excellent job in helping her.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Dolores of Waite Park, sister Bonnie (Kurt Moreland) Kalla of Madison, WI, nieces, Brianna, Sarah and Monica Moreland, nephews, Liam, Logan and Isaac Moreland. Also surviving him are many aunts, uncles, cousins and a large number of very good friends.

Daryl is preceded in death by his father Sylvester (March 18, 2006), grandparents, Stanley and Mary (Pietron) Kutzman in 1963 and John (1974) and Rose (Studniski) Kalla (1985).

We wish to extend our deep gratitude to the Waite Park Police Dept., paramedic support from St. Joseph, the ambulance crew, our friends, neighbors and relatives for all their help and support in those tragic moments at the end, “Thank you all.”

Daryll was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by everyone that got the honor to know him… lost a great friend too soon. RIP Daryll

I haven’t seen Daryl in 27 years, but he left me with a lifetime of memories and funny stories. Daryl started cooking at scouting events when he just 16 years old. It was great to see he experienced a lifetime of service to other people, which I’m sure is being rewarded.

Daryl was a friend, great scouter and an excellent all round person. He has been a greatentor to many youth. I will miss him

We spent a lot of time together in Scouts, eating good food and enjoying a beer or more. Daryl was my friend, fellow Scout, handyman, music lover, and we spent a lot of time solving the problems of the world 🙂 He helped me get through some rough times, and we laughed through a lot of good times. Daryl, you will certainly be missed.
