David John Lauer

October 7, 1962 – June 21, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Church of St Joseph in St. Joseph for David John Lauer, age 54, who died unexpectedly at his home in Sartell on June 21. He was a resident at 12 Oaks Group Home in Sartell since 2007, but lived most of his life in St Joseph. Fr. Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate and burial will be at St Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the services all at Heritage Hall in St. Joseph. Parish Prayers will be at 4:30 PM on Monday at Heritage Hall. His nephews and nieces will serve as honorary pallbearers.

David Lauer was born October 7, 1962 in St Joseph to Arnold and Anna May Lauer. He lived there with his parents and his brothers and sisters, and graduated from St Cloud Apollo High School in 1981.
David was employed by Wacosa, and previously worked for Coborn’s on Fifth Ave in St Cloud.
He had a passion for trains, tractors and steam engines, and was a regular attendee at the annual Albany Pioneer Days event in the fall. David also had an amazing talent for drawing and could fill notebooks with sketches of the machinery that he enjoyed so much.
Survivors include his father, Arnold of St. Joseph; sisters, Mary (Dave) Menzhuber of St Joseph and Karen (Eric) Baskin of Urbandale, IA; brothers, Mark (Nona) of Sartell and Kevin (Dana) of Alexandria; plus eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna May.
