David Kucala

February 28, 1938 – January 22, 2017

A celebration of David Kucala’s life will take place at St. John’s Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, parish prayers will 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. David will be buried at Assumption Cemetery. David’s officiants will include priests that he was close to over the years, including: Reverend Marvin Enneking, Reverend James Maderack and Reverend Anthony Kroll. David Kucala went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home in St. Cloud Minnesota at the age of 78. He fought a courageous fight against cancer, until God called him home.

David was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on February 28, 1938, the first child of John and Delphine Kucala. He spent his childhood in St. Cloud with his four siblings, Richard, Robert, Bernadette and Theresa. Marriage to his wife, Bonnie, took him to Duluth Minnesota in 1961 where he pursued his career as a grain inspector working for the State of Minnesota. David transferred to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1966 and was later promoted to head trainer and supervisor in his field. David and Bonnie have five loving children: Mark (Lisa), Diane, Joseph (Lisa), Michael (Anita) and Mary. In addition to being known as an expert in his career field, David was quite outgoing and funny. He loved to fish, play cards and visit with family and friends. He was affectionately known as “Papa.” David dearly loved the Lord and devoted himself to his church, prayer and taking care of others.

David is survived by Bonnie, his five children; his sister, Bernadette Peters; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great grandson; and his caretaker, Bonnie Skuza, who is also a close personal friend.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delphine; siblings; Richard, Robert and Theresa Kucala.

Dave’s brother worked with my dad Ed and they all had a hand in giving me a job working for the state of mn. I always thought that was a great help for me!!
