Eldred J. Schreifels

Mass of Christian of Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Eldred J. Schreifels, age 85, who passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Reverend Mark Innocenti will officiate. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery with military honors.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Eldred was born in Cold Spring on June 18, 1929 to Peter and Mary (Mathieu) Schreifels. He Served Honorably in the United States Army. Eldred married Eileen Roden on February 5, 1952 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. She passed away on September 16, 1984. He then married Clara Rausch on May 30, 1987 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Eldred worked for the City of St. Cloud for over 25 years, serving as the custodian for City Hall. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the St. Cloud Eastside VFW Post #4847.

Eldred enjoyed woodworking, small engine repair, hunting and fishing. He especially treasured all the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Henry (Lisa) of Sartell, Marvin of St. Cloud, Dan (Shirley) of Waite Park, Debbie (Joel) Mousky of Sauk Rapids, Wayne(Josile) of St. Cloud, Laverne (Kevin) Dingmann of Rice, Marilyn Schreifels of St. Cloud, Marlene Schreifels of St. Cloud; step-children, Eugene (Colleen) Rausch of Buffalo, Eleanor (Richard) Maurer of Fair Haven, Ardyce (Tom) Oberg of Hudson, WI, Patricia (Scott) Nelson of Burtrum, Janice (Robert) Korth of Hinckley, Joseph (Toni) Rausch of Buffalo, and Julie Price of Minneapolis; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Sylvan Schreifels of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.

Eldred is preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and brother and sister, Evelyn Fiedler and Alex Schreifels.
