Emmett John Kennedy, affectionately known as Jack, 89, passed away quietly on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Quiet Oaks in St. Augusta. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Reverend Doug Liebsch of St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in St. Cloud will officiate. He was born on July 19, 1927 in St. Cloud to the late Julius Leo Kennedy and Josephine Pfeffer Kennedy.

Jack served in the Navy aboard the USS Aircraft Carrier, Tarawa for 6 years and discovered his passion for photography while in the Navy. He was US Staff Photographer and served in both WWII and the Korean War. "Serve if you are asked to serve and do what you can for your country," Jack was quoted saying.

Jack moved to California in 1954 where he lived and worked as a photographer for Rockwell International Aerospace until 1975. Jack took interior pictures of spacecraft that went to the moon for the Man to the Moon project. In 1975 he moved back to St. Cloud and opened his own photography studio. Over the next 22 years he took pictures for graduations, weddings, and numerous commercial projects. In 1997 he retired and spent a lot more time golfing. Jack was an avid golfer and was a member of Angushire Golf Course for over 30 years. During that time he had three incredible holes-in-one! He loved all sports but golf was his favorite.

Also keeping him busy was Sassy, his cocker spaniel. Sassy has been adopted through a special program for senior dogs and will live out her days with a loving family.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Myron (CA), Eloy (NC) and nephew, Michael (CA). He is survived by his nephew, Patrick (CA). Jack will be missed by many long-time friends and neighbors.

Jack’s favorite scripture was John 3:16.

Jack was a very kind man & I will miss our conversations and his stories. So fortunate to have connected and shared our common ancestry.

Truly happy guy that was always light hearted and jovial. I always knew a smile was coming when smelling his pipe tobacco. Jack played a full 18 with virtue and honor.

Jack was very special to our family. He joked around with all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He will always be remembered as a great photographer, an avid sports fanatic (especially golf), and a terrific friend.
Love you forever, Jack!
