February 24, 1923 – June 19, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Faye C. Reilly, 94, of St. Cloud will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lower Church in St. Cloud. Faye passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center in St. Cloud. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Faye was born on February 24, 1923 to Mathew and Mona (Barthelemy) Peschl and married John Reilly on June 10, 1947. She graduated from Cathedral High School and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from St. Cloud State University. She taught in area schools, retiring in 1986 from Sartell School District #748.
Faye was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Stephen’s Mission Group and the Friends of the Library. A longtime American Red Cross blood donor, she was also a volunteer kitchen worker at the Salvation Army. When her children were small, she volunteered as an interim care-giver for newborns awaiting adoption through Catholic Social Services of St. Cloud. She also hosted, with her husband, Vietnamese refugee students in the 1970s. She made new friends throughout her life. Her family (with apologies to the Whitney Center bridge group) believed her to be the best bridge player in Central Minnesota.
She is survived by her children, William Reilly of Rochester, Maureen Opitz of St. Joseph, Patricia Obermiller of St. Cloud, Mary Louise Reilly of Columbia, MD and Rebecca Manthei of Minneapolis; sons-in-law, Michael Opitz, Dean Obermiller and Thomas Seivert; grandchildren, Lindsey Briscoe, Bridget Krautkramer, Mathew Reilly, Maria Opitz, Eric Obermiller, Katie Miller, Emily Jonas, Aidan Reilly Seivert, Kieren Reilly Seivert, Frieda Manthei and John Manthei; great-grandchildren, Rhys Reilly and Kaylee Miller; sister, Mary Bronder; and brother-in-law, Donald Kost.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, John; sister, Bernice Kost; son-in-law, Michael Manthei; grandson, Andrew Opitz.
Memorials are preferred to Cathedral High School Scholarship Fund or St. Mary’s Cathedral Capital Campaign.
