September 29, 1930 – January 20, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Frank A. Buhl, age 84 of St. Cloud who passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. Reverend Aaron Nett will officiate. Entombment will take place at the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Frank was born September 29, 1930 in Waubun, Minnesota to John and Mary Ann (Blair) Buhl. He was a 1949 graduate of Waubun High School. Frank was a decorated veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars retiring after 30 years of service as Chief Master Sergeant in 1981. He married Margaret G. Shipton on May 12, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After his service to his country, Frank was a Civil Service employee for ten years with the majority of the time in England. He retired and moved to St. Cloud in 1993. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association Chapter 115, Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 290, Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 and St. Augustine’s parish.
Frank had a great interest in English history, running, biking and watching sports, especially the Vikings and Gophers.
Frank is survived by his children, Paul (Mary) of Olathe, Kansas, Susan Reher of Sun City Center, Florida, Catherine (Steve) DiGiulio of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Karen (Greg) Van Zuilen of Spicer, Elizabeth (Chad Viesselman) Buhl of Waite Park; seven granddaughters; one great granddaughter; and brother, Wilfred (Evelyn) of Stillwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret in 2003; and sister, Myrtle Shanahan.
The family would like to sincerely thank Quiet Oaks Hospice House for the care and compassion shown to Frank and the family.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Frank was a great example for us all on how to be a good neighbor. He was a longtime member of our neighborhood watch group and was always up for a friendly conversation over the backyard fence. He will be greatly missed!

Our hearts are heavy tonight with the news of Franks passing. We shared many laughs and memories over the last couple years and he will be greatly missed. Our prayers, sympathies and love to all. Uncle Bill & Aunt Evie

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Frank and we will miss him greatly. Cathy is very glad that she was able to see him in late December-early January, and have him view his 80th Birthday video. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with the Buhl family.
