Garry J. Flam

September 9, 1936 – September 7, 2014

Surrounded by love, Garry J. Flam passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Reverend Mark Innocenti will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Waite Park.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Garry was born on September 9, 1936 in St. Cloud to Franklin and Marguerite (Mohs) Flam. He graduated from Kimball High, was Homecoming ‘King’ of Kimball, and frequently told his kids they were royalty. He married Marylin Notch on April 22, 1957 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Garry served in the US Navy where he began his career as an electrician. As the owner of Erickson Electric, Garry was well known for his willingness to help and his ability to fix almost anything. He was a member of St. Michael’s Parish and a past member of the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428.

Garry was a much beloved Husband who was also known as Dad, Grandpa, and Papa G. Garry loved his family, hunting, fishing, traveling, and going to the casino.

As patriarch of ‘The Flamily", Garry is survived by his wife of 57 years Marylin of Sartell; four children, Debra Flam (Don Hales) of Bay Lake, Gordon Flam (Cindy) of Maple Grove, Denise Seehusen (Nathon) of Sartell, Rebecca Groenewold (Brian) of Albany; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; brother, Tom Flam (Rosie); sister, Arlene Steele (Allen); and his special dog, Shadow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a great grandson, Evan Hegerle.

A special thank you to The VA Medical Center Hospice for their professional and compassionate care. Memorials are preferred to the VA Health Care System Hospice Program.
