George R. Stokes

Memorial services will be in the spring for George Roscoe Stokes age 91 of Clearwater, MN who died on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at the Annandale Care Center in Annandale, MN. Inurnment will also be in the spring at the Acacia Cemetery, at Clearwater. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater.

Mr. Stokes was born on June 27, 1923 on a farm south of Clearwater, MN in Lynden Township, Stearns County, MN, the son of Roscoe and Mabel (Rice) Stokes. He married Ruth Nordell on June 13, 1953. He then moved to a farm south of Clearwater with his wife, where they farmed and lived. After Ruth died on August 20, 2003, George continued to live on the farm until he became a resident of the Annandale Care Center two weeks ago.

George was an active member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church, the Clearwater Masonic Lodge No. 20 A.F. and A.M. and Clover Leaf Chapter 128 Order of Eastern Star. He was also Clearwater Township Treasurer for many years. Also George was always the type of guy that was always there when help was needed.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Ruth, he was preceded in death by; two sisters, Evelyn Bentley and Ruby Carlson.

Memorials are preferred to the Acacia Cemetery or Clearwater United Methodist Church.
