James L. Ross
September 20, 1932 – September 15, 2014
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in Clearwater for James L. Ross, 81, of Clearwater and formerly of Maple Grove. Jim passed away peacefully, from complications of a stroke, with loved ones by his side on Monday, September 15, 2014 at CentraCare Health in Monticello. Burial with military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Jim was born on September 20, 1932 in Wabash, Indiana to William and Mary (Frushour) Ross. Jim joined the US Air Force in 1952, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1956. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering. He married Kathleen Scully on September 28, 1985 in Anoka. Jim’s long career as an engineer ended with Honeywell. Jim was a member of the Clearwater American Legion Post #323 and the Eagle Trace Golfers Club.
Golfing and sports were Jim’s favorite pastime. He also enjoyed being outdoors and being active, wintering in Arizona and his Dodge truck.
Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen of Clearwater; children, Matt (Alex) of Phoenix, Arizona, Stan (Danette) of Wonder Lake, Illinois, Terri (Gary) Reece of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Andy (Julie) of Sartell, Gena Rademacher (Jim Metz) of Andover, Will of Monroe, Louisiana; step-children, Shannon (Jim) Lyons of Hutchinson, Kevin (Seanine) Scully of Montrose, Erin Scully of St. Cloud; 17 grandchildren; five great grandsons; brother, Gene (Rosalie) of Columbia City, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

I met Jim when he lived in Crystal Lake, IL. and I have been friends with Gena for close to 40 years! He was like a father to me back in the day and after graduating from high school I planned a trip to MN. I loved the farm and being there and I way over-stayed my “visit” but Jim was the best. He welcomed me in his home for as long as i wanted to stay and treated me as if I was part of his family. His kind heart and loving smile will be forever in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ross family.
