JoAnn Illies

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 19th at 12:30 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for JoAnn Illies, age 81, of St. Cloud, who died on Saturday at the Foley Care Center in Foley. Rev. Greg Lieser will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday between 4:00-7:00 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Monday one hour prior to service at the church.

JoAnn was born February 22, 1935 in Holdingford Township to Michael and Anna (Wochnick) Sowada. She married Ralph Illies on November 16th, 1959 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus. They lived in St. Cloud all of their married lives. She was employed at the St Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Independent Order of Foresters, VFW Post 428 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 428 Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Scott (Carri) of Woodstock, Georgia, Charles (Sharon) of Stilwell, Kansas, Michael (Doris Terwey) of St. Cloud, Kenneth (Julie) of Rochester, and James of St. Cloud; six grandchildren, Matthew (Allie), Mitchell, Melissa, Catherine, Kailee and Justin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband November 6th, 2012, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

The family would especially like to thank the staffs at Heartland Hospice and Foley Memory Care Unit for the great care given to their mom.
