John Stanis Nentl

August 3, 1962 – December 29, 2014

Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. John’s Abbey Church in Collegeville, for John Stanis Nentl, age 52, of St. Joseph who passed away on Monday December 29, 2014. Reverend Gregory Miller, OSB will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Parish Center in Collegeville and at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Abbey Church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph.

John was born on August 3, 1962 to Melvin and Madonna (Kulas) Nentl and raised in Holdingford. He graduated from Holdingford High School in 1981 where he was a varsity wrestler and football player. John’s love of wrestling continued as he coached and mentored young wrestlers for many years. He married Patty Zimmer on April 19, 1986. He was a loving father to Sara and Justin.

John was employed by Ben and Heidi Bias where he farmed throughout high school. He also worked for his father’s trucking company—Nentl Trucking, Viking Coke, Rubald Beverage, The Landing, Lange Trenching and Frito Lay for the past 27 years.

John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Patty” of St. Joseph; children, Sara (Matt Froehling) and Justin Nentl, both at home; mother, Madonna Nentl of Holdingford; siblings, Patricia Lynn (Steve) Schiller of Holdingford, Mark Nentl of Holdingford ,and Katie (Rick) Krebs of Shakopee; godchildren, Mary Kaye Wahl of Savage, Jason Klein of St. Joseph, Melissa Eisenschenk of Cold Spring, and Evan Acheson of Cold Spring; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Loretta and Roger Zimmer of St. Joseph; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Nentl of Holdingford; grandparents; godparents and his nephew, Nicolas Krebs.

John was kind-hearted and a generous individual who loved his family, storytelling, fishing, scuba diving, snowmobiling, camping, planting trees, bonfires, grilling, sharing beers and good laughs.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

I looked foward to visiting with john each Saturday at Coborns in st.joe. I was expecting to see him today when i was told the news. i will miss him, We often talked fishing and had fished together from time to time. He talked fondly of his family and was always kind, energetic and helpful. He was a hard worker, and a great story teller.
He will be very missed.

RIP John! I have known John for about 19 years as we worked together as vendors. Whenever I would run into him it would brighten my day. My thought and prayers are with his family. God Bless!

We are so sad to hear of this, Our hearts are heavy but are thankful to know about it. Thank-you Laura. Praying for you all. We remember the time we came up to hang out with all of you. John drove us around the town to show us many sites. We had such a fun time. We will be there. Love you all!!!

I was so very sad to hear of John’s death. I knew him as a vendor rep at the SJU Bookstore for many years. He was always very pleasant and concerned about everyone’s life. He will be missed by many. My deepest sympathy to his entire family.

John knew most of us by name and greeted us every morning. He used to say Mercy mercy Marcy have a great day.

Wow! I’m so surprised & saddened to hear about his passing! John always brought a smile to your face when we came into the store to fill chips. john was very dedicated to his work, and was fun to visit with at Paul,s he will be missed. Rest in peace john.

John’s warm laugh and wonderful stories will always be remembered. He will be greatly missed.. Lots of prayers are being sent for his family.

The bitter cold day of my sister, Kathy’s funeral, John had washed the Frito truck and parked it near the path to the cemetery. My family was deeply touched by this act. I hope someone brings John’s Frito truck to the Abby. I am very sorry for this loss. Hold tight to the memories and let them help you through. I cannot be with you for his celebration of life but your family is in my prayers and I ask that God Bless all of you. Rest in peace John.

John will be missed by everyone he came in touch with. Patty, Donna and Family you are all in your thoughts and prayers. Keep the happy memories of John close to your heart’s that will get you through this difficult time.

John was always a shot of energy in my mornings. He would always come in full of energy and smiles. He was a joy to be around and I will miss him.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to John’s family. He will always hold a special place in our hearts that will never be forgotten. I will always treasure the fond memories. He will be missed dearly and remembered for the happiness he brought to each of our lives.

I am so sad. I will forever feel indebted to John for helping me feel accepted when I felt so different than everyone else. What a great person.
