Memorial Services to celebrate the life of Laurene C. Franzen, 76, of St. Cloud and formerly of Crystal will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. Laurene passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family by her side, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 after a brave battle with cancer. Pastor Al Monson will officiate. Private inurnment will in Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.

 

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Laurene was born on May 7, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Kenneth and Grace (Hanson) Johnson. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald “Jerry” A. Franzen on June 25, 1960 at Good Shepherd Church in Golden Valley. In addition to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, Laurene was employed as a beautician for many years.

Laurene enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening. She also loved being outdoors, spending time at the lake and fishing.

Laurene is survived by her children, Deb Alstrom (Jerry Franz) of Crystal, Dee Jungk of Crystal, Jodi Franzen of St. Cloud, Brian (fianceé Michelle Salmonson) of Oak Park; close family friend, John Nelson of Foley; grandchildren, Mellissa, Ben and Nick; three great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Dora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in 2009; and brother, Dick Johnson.
