Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Loretta S. Schaefer, 88, of St. Cloud will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lower Church in St. Cloud. Loretta passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Sterling Park Care Center in Waite Park. Reverend Douglas Liebsch will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Loretta was born on May 16, 1928 in Richmond, Minnesota to the late Peter and Pauline (Moser) Theis. She married Stanley Schaefer on February 9, 1946 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond and lived in St. Cloud all of her married life. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Loretta enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

She is survived by her children, Pauline (Michael) Springer of St. Cloud, Arthur Schaefer of Sauk Centre, Stephen Schaefer of St. Cloud; five grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Marcella Hedgers; and brother, William (Frances) Theis.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1996; children, Ruth Zuleger and Michael Schaefer; and siblings, Marie, Clem, Lawrence, Norbert, Leonard and Joseph Theis.

Memorials are preferred.
