Marian A. Davis

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 18, 2017 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Marian A. Davis, age 88, of St. Cloud, who passed on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Douglas Liebsch will officiate. Entombment will take place at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services at Church on Monday. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Marian was born April 3, 1929, to Harry and Mary (Bartoletti) Taintor in Springfield, Illinois. The family then moved to Antigo, Wisconsin, where her father died in 1934. In 1940 her mother married William Denham of Minneapolis, and they moved there. Marian graduated from Southwest High School and St. Catherine’s University, receiving her BA in English in 1951. After graduation, she worked as an Executive Secretary at Minneapolis radio station WDGY.
In 1956, she married John (Jack) Davis at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Minneapolis. A job transfer in 1958 moved them to Duluth. Another transfer in 1963 moved them to St. Cloud, where they lived in Woodland Hills for over 50 years.
Marian loved reading, attending four decades of Vikings games, and loved the Twins. She enjoyed fishing trips, especially to Burntside Lake near Ely, and often amazed her family by catching the biggest fish of the day. Marian and Jack loved to travel and saw much of the United States, as well as international cruises. They especially enjoyed visiting Laguna Beach, California, for many winters. She volunteered at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud for many years, and found the work very fulfilling. Her bridge clubs and a birthday group with friends were a special part of her life. Her happiest times were with her family.
Marian is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack; her three children, Mike Davis (Karla) of Concord, CA, Therese Cadle (Tom) of St. Joseph, MI, John Davis (Julie) of Buffalo; beloved grandchildren Ben Davis (Jo), Jenni MacLean (Jeff), Rebecca Cadle, Rachel Stenson (Gerald), Jacob Cadle, Joshua Cadle, Jack Davis and Liza Davis; and great-granddaughter Eleanor Stenson.
Memorials preferred to Struthers Parkinson Center in Golden Valley, MN or St. Augustine Church, St. Cloud.
