Mike and Judy were great, friendly neighbors. Mike was the guardian of the lake; he did many things to preserve and protect it. He was a strong man who preserved a beautiful memorial for Karen. He and Judy enjoyed their children and grand children. Judy is a beautiful wife, supportive daughter to her mother, and mother and grandmother to her descendants. Mike persevered with his affliction, often mowing and fishing in his later years.

I think it’s safe to say Mike touched everyone he ever met in some way or another. He definitely was one of a kind. I will always have fond memories of family vacations as kids at the Jarmuzek’s. They were & are always centered around a superior love of family & fun. We were always sad when it was time to return back to life in Iowa. I remember driving with my Dad to school in the mornings (not particularly looking forward to it) & Dad would say “Hey…Let’s run away & go up to Mikey’s” 🙂 and we still say it from time to time. Mike may no longer be in body, but he is definitely still here in spirit & the hearts of all of us.

To the Jarmuzek Family. I am deeply sorry for you loss. I remember Mike from the Hasty Truck Stop when I waitressed there. He was always full of fun and jokes. I will be thinking of you all.

Here’s a time that will always stick with me. My cousin Brett Jarmuzek and I were at uncle Mikey’s. We were about eight or nine I believe, anyways we were fishing from shore on the lake not having much luck, well there a culvert from the lake and on the opposite side is a swamp/pond, so we decided to fish over there, so we casted in and started nailing big fish, I mean big fish. We hammered them, mean while I think uncle Mikey was resting. So mean and Brett go waltzing up with a landing net full of fish, the handle was even bending on it, not realizing what we even caught, we finally get up to the house yelling for uncle Mike, he comes out of the house and looks and I swear his eyes got as big as saucers, not because we caught alot of big fish, but because they were all large mouth bass out of season!! He yelled for us to get our little butts down to the lake and let them go!! I still laugh when I think of that story.

Mike was such a sweet guy, there is one time that I was over to their house for Karen’s birthday party and we went for a ride in the pontoon. The motor went out as we were on the other side of the lake and he jumped in the water & swam to shore while pulling us along. Then walked all the way back home along the shoreline towing the boat full of young girls, laughing and having a great time!! I couldn’t tell you much else that happened at that party, but that will stick in my mind forever. Thanks for the memories Mike & The Jarmuzek family.
