Darrell was born on July 28, 1933 in Clarkfield, Minnesota to the late Reuben G. and Hallie (Sharkey) Vik. He attended the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Faribault. While there, he fell in love with Yvonne Dippold and they were united in marriage on August 20, 1954 in Clarkfield. Darrell worked for many years with his uncles in family businesses as an agricultural mechanic and farm hand. He then was employed in Duluth and Cokato as a furniture upholster. His final job was as a foreman and machinist with Globe Tool and Manufacturing in Minneapolis for over thirty years, retiring in 1992. Darrell and his family lived in Buffalo from 1975 until 2012. He was a lifelong member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church.
Darrell had many loves and hobbies including: hunting, fishing, woodworking, snowmobiling, boating and fixing things. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the highlight of his life and he treasured spending time with them. He will be remembered as a Machinist by trade but an Engineer by heart.

My heart is full of love for my family that I barely knew but love from all the remember when stories shared by my mom and grandma the meeting at the lake when I desperately tried to communicate with my alphabet sign language 🙂 and the love my Grandma Wilma has in her heart for her brother and his dear wofe and children… xoxo

Neighbors of he and his wife when they lived outside of Buffalo-always got a kick out of him and his dog walking up and down the township road and giving us a wave and greeting. Our condolences to the family.

always will have fond memories of him and his family…my family

Didn’t see Darrell often over the years but always admired him greatly.

My thoughts are with you. I remember his kind heart and willingness to play endless games of tic-tac-toe, always winning.

May the Lord keep you in this time of grief. What we have lost, the Lord has gained.

Sorry for ur loss
