Robert J. Gill

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Robert J. Gill, 73, of St. Joseph will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Bob passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at home with his loving family at his side. Reverend Ronald Weyrens and Reverend Jerome Tupa OSB will con-celebrate. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Parish Center. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph.

Bob was born on May 20, 1941 on the family farm in St. Wendel Township to the late Edward J. and Elizabeth (Thomas) Gill. He married Marcella E. Prom on November 22, 1962 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Together they farmed for 18 years. Bob was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Parish.

Bob loved spending time with his family and was happiest when surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Bob also enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing cards, computer games and Sudoku. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and for his optimistic outlook.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marcella of St. Joseph; daughters, Sandy (Dave) Foy of Sartell; Shirley Ringhand of Sartell; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Foy, Jenny Foy (Gene Gibbs), Melissa Foy, Matt Ringhand, Katie Ringhand; great grandson, Dominic Foy; and brother, Alvin of the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his great grandson, Zachary Foy; and brother, Eldred.

Memorials are preferred.
