Had Miss Haines for 6th grade way back in the mid 60’s! We had class in what is now the office for Central Square. She was tough, but fair and I don’t think we realized what a good education she gave us at that time. The things she taught us helped us through the rest of our school years. May she rest in peace.

Rosemary’s phone rang one afternoon. She set down her crossword puzzle and picked up the phone; it was a salesman for replacing windshields. He asked if she had a crack in her windshield, she replied, “let me go check”. She put the phone down and went back to her crossword puzzle. Once she was done with her puzzle, she walked over and picked up the phone, the salesman still waiting on the line. She said to him, “I just went out to check and realized that I don’t have a car”. True story.

Peace be with Miss Haines and her family. She was one of my best teachers in 6th grade in Glenwood. I was a terrible speller in school and we got to spend a lot of time together at noon hour! Dean Larson and myself spent the majority of our noon hours with Miss Haines. Peace be with her!
