March 6, 1943 – March 24, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry for Shirley A. Leyendecker, age 74, of Paynesville who passed away at her home on Friday, March 24, 2017. Reverend Glenn Krystoseck will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry. The Christian Women will pray a rosary at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. 
 

Shirley was born on March 6, 1943 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Christian and Marie (Fischbach) Neu. She married Louis Leyendecker on May 5, 1962 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. Shirley worked as a cook at both Good Samaritan Home and Hilltop. She was also a homemaker. Shirley was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, Christian Women, and St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.

She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, bird watching, watching the Minnesota Twins, and most recently crocheting.  Shirley especially treasured all the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Louis; children, Mark(Janelle) of Grove City, Darren of Litchfield, Kathy (Perry Yungk) Larsen of Paynesville, Tony (Sue) of Swanville, Chris (Fiancée, Paula Hansen) of Roscoe ; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;  three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jared; and eight brothers and sisters.
