Shirley M. Hendrickson

Memorial Services will be 2:30 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Paynesville Lutheran Church in Paynesville for Shirley M. Hendrickson, age 82, of Paynesville. Shirley passed away April 2, 2016 at the Paynesville Area Hospital. Pastor Paul Shumaker will officiate. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 -2:30 PM on Sunday at the church.

Shirley was born on March 9, 1934 in Rochester, Minnesota to Lewis and Laura (Hesley) Thompson. She married Douglas Hendrickson on July 24, 1954 at the Methodist Church in Paynesville. They farmed south of Lake Koronis until 1980. She also worked at the Paynesville Ben Franklin for many years. She was an active member of Paynesville Lutheran Church where she was part of WELCA, Quilting Group, and Sunday School Teaching. She will be remembered for growing and painting the pumpkins for the Fall Craft Sales. Shirley and Doug were also founding members of the Night Owls Square Dance Group.

Shirley is survived by her children Patricia (Edward) Neal of Minneapolis, Susan (Bruce) Vanderpool of Paynesville and Robert (Netti) Hendrickson of Paynesville, 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, sister Betty Sotendahl of Becker and brother Robert (Leticia) Thompson of Paynesville and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Doug (2015), and her twin brother Sherwood Thompson.
