Viola C. "Vi" Odegard

May 4, 1924 – November 15, 2017

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Viola C. “Vi” Odegard, 93, of St. Cloud will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lower Church in St. Cloud. Vi passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by her family. Reverend Douglas Liebsch will officiate. Entombment of cremated remains will take place in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Vi was born on May 4, 1924 in Rockville, Minnesota to the late Joseph and Ida (Dietman) Stang. She married Carl Odegard on May 18, 1948 in Cold Spring. Vi was a loving homemaker for many years prior to working as a bookkeeper for Woolworth’s until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and Christian Women, St. Cloud V.F.W. Granite Post #428 and the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 Ladies Auxiliaries.
Vi enjoyed playing cards, dancing, ceramics, sewing, reading, word find games and traveling. She also treasured spending time with her family and especially loved to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Joyce (Pat) Stimler of St. Cloud, Jim (Cheryl) of Richmond, Janis (Philip) Voigt of South Haven, June Brezinka of Rice , Jill (Duane) Voigt of St. Augusta; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brother, Irvin Stang of Cold Spring; and sisters, Iris Philippi of Cold Spring, Florence Weyrens of Minneapolis, Ida Mae (Gene) Rossman of Cold Spring; and sister-in-law, Mary Stang of Albany; and many nieces and nephews.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 2010; great granddaughter, Sydney Peltier; brothers, Louis and Joseph Stang Jr.; sisters- in-law, LuVerne Stang, Mae Richardson and Grace Pfaff; and brothers-in-law, Alois Weyrens and Sylvan Philippi.

Vi was a most delightful woman with an absolutely infectious laugh. I am grateful I got to spend Christmas with her and Bud for many years and be included in many Odegard family events. I know everyone will miss her dearly and I wish I could be there to give everyone a hug.
