Walter V. Roden

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Walter V. Roden, age 86, of St. Cloud who passed away July 19. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud with full military honors.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 25 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Walter was born December 23, 1927 in Lastrup, MN to Martin and Mary (Hoffmann) Roden. He served in U.S. Army during WWII. He married Leona Primus on June 15, 1948 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. He was self-employed as a house painter since 1947. He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish since 1959, he was a life member of the Painter’s Union #386, Catholic United Financial, a life member of the American Legion Post 76 and a life member of VFW Post 428.

Walter is survived by his wife Leona of St. Cloud, daughters Joan (Kevin) Zimmer of Sauk Centre and Joyce (Michael) Podtburg of Little Falls, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters Dolores (Donald) Bialka of Sauk Rapids and Dorothy Springer of Sauk Rapids, brothers Henry (Betty) of St. Cloud and Clarence (Sadie) of St. Cloud.

Preceding Walter in death were his parents, son Patrick (2001), brother John, sisters Mary Gross, Eileen Schreifels and infant sister Lucille.
