Curtis Wayne Ahrens
June 29, 1967 – October 8, 2024
It is with great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Curtis Wayne Ahrens on October 8th, 2024, at the age of 57.
Curt was born on June 29th, 1967, to Dennis and Carolin (Gould) Ahrens in Wadena, MN. He graduated from Apollo High School in 1986 and later completed the Custodial Technician Training program at a technical college in St. Paul. Curt held various positions in the area, including the St. Cloud School District, but his most cherished role was with Buttweiler Janitorial (now 4M Building Solutions), where he dedicated the majority of his career.
Growing up, Curt’s hobbies included building model rockets and inviting family to gather and watch him launch, playing tennis and he was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved watching their games, attending training camps, collecting memorabilia, and proudly wearing Vikings apparel, daily. Curt was a member of the American Sign Language community (ASL) and cherished time with family and friends and enjoyed daily walks with their dog, Hazel.
Curt met Carrie Denise Keller through his sister, Shawn (Ahrens) Behrendt. Carrie, a close friend of Shawn, asked if Curt would be interested in a date, and the rest is history. Curt and Carrie were married on October 18, 1997, and later welcomed their daughter, Ava Marie Ahrens, in 2005. They enjoyed nearly 26 years of marriage before Carrie’s unexpected passing last year.
Curt is preceded in death by his wife, Carrie; father, Dennis; and mother-in-law, Denise (Halstrom) Keller.
Curt will forever be missed by his daughter, Ava; mother, Carolin; sister, Shawn (John) Behrendt and her children, Cody (Emma) Monjeau, Shelby (Jack) Langer, and their children, Malcolm and Eleanor Langer; father-in-law, Joseph Keller; sister-in-law, Kristi (Shawn) O’Keefe, and their children, Kenzie, Owen, and Keegan O’Keefe; beloved dog, Hazel; and his wonderful friends in the ASL community.
