Albert J. Sakry

Albert J. Sakry, age 78, of Clear Lake, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at his home. Visitation will take place on Thursday (TODAY), May 17, 2007 from 4-9 p.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. A private funeral will be held with burial in the St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery in Duelm.

Albert was born May 1, 1929 in Santiago Township, Sherburne County, MN to Joseph and Helen (Karchemarek) Sakry. He worked with his father and brothers building silos and hauling gravel for Sakry Gravel. He married Ramona Rose Scott on June 1, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Minden Township, Benton County. They purchased the Sakry family farm where they raised 13 children and farmed for many years. In addition to farming he worked as a welder, mechanic and moved on to become equipment supervisor for Barbarossa and Sons and then for PCI where he remained until retiring in 1991.

Albert enjoyed fishing, cooking, volunteering, driving around the county in his pick-up and spending time with his family.

Albert is survived by his children Barbara (Donald) Claseman of Duluth, David (special friend Linda Belanger) of Santiago, Steven (Glenda) of Becker, Diane (Jan Hamilton) Leigh of Crystal, Elaine (Dennis) Hamacher of Becker, Arnold (Merrill) of Becker, Ruth (Brian) Wipper of St. Cloud, Kathy (Pete) Frank of Becker, Stanley (Cathy Hayes) of New York, Warren (Cheri) of Becker, Alan (Julie) of Clear Lake, Linda (Tom) Bock of Andover and Paul (Philip Park) of New York, 33 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and brother Henry (Phyllis) of St. Cloud.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Ramona, brothers Anthony and John, and sisters Pauline Rogers and Marie Sakry.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Paul Spinner and his staff at the Becker Clinic, people at the Shopko East Pharmacy and the St. Cloud Hospital and Home Care.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
