Bertilla Lommel
November 3, 1932 – January 25, 2025

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Benedict’s Center Chapel in St. Cloud for Bertilla A. “Bert” Lommel. Bert passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Benedicts Center. Reverend David Grundman will officiate. Private burial of cremated remains will take place in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery in Cold Spring at a later date.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Benedict’s Chapel. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud
Bert was born on November 3, 1932 on a farm in Cold Spring. She was the youngest of six children of George and Mary (Walerius) Hartman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Church in Cold Spring. Bert attended a one room schoolhouse in Cold Spring until grade 7, then attended 8th grade at St. Anthony’s in St. Cloud and graduated from Cathedral High School. She went on to attend the School of X-Ray Technology at the St. Cloud Hospital. Bert married LeRoy Lommel on November 21, 1953 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, raising six children. She later was employed at the Catholic Mission Office and Carefree Living in St. Cloud. Bert was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Marcellus Mission Group, Daughters of Isabella and Catholic United Financial. She was a past member of Holy Spirit Befrienders and a 500 card group for 63 years.
She and LeRoy wintered in Mesa, AZ for 26 years where golf was their favorite pastime. She was an avid reader, quilter, loved solving crossword puzzles and embroidering many, many dish towels. Her famous chocolate chip banana bread will be remembered by all.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Rick) Silva of Alabama, Scott of Sartell, Shelly (Brian) Gobar of St. Cloud, Jodi (Julie Pung) Lommel of Cold Spring, Janine (Keith) Pearson of New London, Jay (Teri) of St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren: Eric, Brittney, Caleb, Crystal, Stephanie, Zachary, Rachel, Adam, Sam, Alyssa and Leo; 11 great grandchildren: Ava, Gavin, Macie, Maycie, Makenzie, Maddox, Elsie, Miles, Nolan, Cam and Mac; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Francis, Edward and Urban Hartman; two sisters, Eleanor Dolphin, Clara Hartman; husband, LeRoy in December 2018; and great grandson, Nash Lommel.
Memorials are preferred to Holy Spirit Church, St. Cloud.
A heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at St. Benedict’s Community and to CentraCare Hospice for their there loving care.
