June 28, 1924 – February 12, 2007

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 19, 2007 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Stephen for Lorraine Smoley, age 82, St. Stephen, who died Feb. 12, 2007. The Reverend Robert Harren will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 9:00 PM on Sunday, Feb. 18, and after 9:30 AM on Monday at the St. Stephen parish hall in St. Stephen. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 PM; the St. Stephen American Legion Post 221 Auxilliary and the St. Stephen Christian Women will pray at 6:30 PM Sunday at the parish hall.

Lorraine was born on June 28, 1924, in Avon to Julius and Mary (Kuklok) Pierskalla. She married Henry Smoley on June 13, 1944 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel. Lorraine and Henry farmed in St. Stephen until they retired in 1976. Lorraine enjoyed traveling, ceramics, sewing, and crafts.

Lorraine is survived by: her husband; children: Carol Ann (Jerome) Diederich of Pine River, Irma Jane Rothstein of Altima Springs, FL, Duwayne of Rice; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Alois of Wabasha MN; and sister Alice Chirhart of St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Peter, Lawrence, Edward, Felix, Leo, Vince, Alfred; sisters: Johanna, Alvina, Alma, and Esther.
