February 28, 1956 – September 10, 2007

On September 10, 2007, Patricia L. Nemec, age 51, of St. Cloud, died at the St. Cloud Hospital due to complications from ALS. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church in St. Cloud. Burial will take place in North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud. Relatives and friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church.

Patti was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on February 28, 1956 to Colonel and Phyllis (Wilson) Nemec. She lived in several locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin, returning to Minnesota with her family in 1968. She graduated from Technical High School in 1974. She was employed from 1976-2005 at St. Cloud State University. Patti adored serving the students of SCSU, many of them becoming special friends in her life. In 2003, Patti was honored when retired Professor Crumpton Farrell endowed a scholarship in her name at the university. A woman of faith, Patti found a church home at Grace United Methodist Church, participating in many activities until her health failed her.

Patti leaves behind her husband Joe Adelmeyer, stepdaughter Katie Kasel (husband John, Cody & Dillon) of Pittsburgh, PA, stepson Joe (wife Mary, Kristen & Alexa) of Juneau, AK, parents Phyllis and Colonel Nemec of St. Cloud, sister Brenda and brother-in-law Joe Struck of St. Cloud, nephew Bill Lenarz and wife Jess of Fargo, ND, Godchildren Brice Adelmeyer of St. Cloud, Jonathon Dahl of Delano, MN and Melissa James of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving Patti are her Lager Family of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, special cousins Carolyn Behrens of Whitewater, WI and Jo Wilson of Naples, FL and many, many special friends.

Many thanks to everyone who provided support to Patti and Joe during her illness. And a very special thank you to Dr. Anh Nguyen for his compassionate care of Patti.

Memorials are preferred to Grace United Methodist Church, the Patricia Nemec Scholarship Fund at St. Cloud State University, or the MN ALS Chapter.

My sympathy to Patti’s family and friends. Patti was an awesome work study boss! I worked in the Center for Career Planning and Placement office from 1986-1987. Patti was so kind. I haven’t seen her in years but she will always have a special place in my heart.
