Rose C. Ament left us for her home in heaven on May 9, 2013.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Rose shared her enthusiasm for life and generous spirit for more than 100 years.
She lived life to its fullest at every opportunity by raising a family, serving her church and volunteering for community organizations. She was born March 13, 1913 to Wilfred and Clara (Kelzer) Uselman in Wadena, MN. She married Tony Ament on April 12, 1937 in her hometown at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
The couple settled in St. Cloud where they raised four children. Rose played an active role in founding and nurturing several community groups. She was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Eagles Lady Auxiliary, the Daughters of Isabella, the Crosier Apostolate and Christian Mothers. Rose and Tony were charter members of Holy Spirit Parish.
For many years Rose and Tony wintered in Phoenix, Arizona. They enjoyed the desert warmth, playing cards and sitting poolside with friends. In later years, they took pleasure in all of Minnesota’s seasons – even winter – with their loveable dachshund, Lisa.
Rose’s easy-going personality and desire to help others were shared as a volunteer at the St. Cloud Hospital and Tri Cap. She served meals at the Salvation Army well into her 90s. Rose and Tony were inducted into the Salvation Army Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2007.
Friends and family will miss her inquisitive nature, uplifting personality, and heartfelt hugs. Rose loved a party. Sharing her zest for life, she enriched and inspired those around her.
Rose is survived by her loving husband of 76 years, Tony, children Yvonne Maus; Bob (Karen) Ament; Gary (Ruth) Ament; Mary Jo (Larry) Lorenz; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and sisters Margaret Taggart and Agnes Wahner. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Don Maus, three brothers, four sisters and one infant sister.
Rose will be remembered and her life celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 6 p.m. on Monday at the church.
Memorials are preferred.
