Elmer J. Olmscheid

Private family funeral services were held for Elmer J. Olmscheid, age 92, of Cold Spring, who passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Reverend Julius Beckermann, OSB officiated. Burial was in the St. James Parish Cemetery in Jacobs Prairie.

Elmer was born on May 30, 1929 to Nicholas and Theresia (Bauer) Olmscheid in St. Martin, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Marilyn M. Buck on May 26, 1956 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in St. Paul. Elmer worked for Cold Spring Granite retiring in 1991 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards, doing wood working crafts, driving tractors and watching the Minnesota Twins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn; children, Renee (John) Salzer, Sharon Mackedanz, Rick, Barb (Jerome) Willenbring and Dan (Brenda Neuman); 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Terres; sisters-in-law, Norine Olmscheid and Verena Olmscheid; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Cecelia; son-in-law, Tom Mackedanz; siblings and their spouses, Leander (Marie), Lidwina (Ambrose) Rothstein, Christine (Peter) Hemmesch, Joseph, Lucille (Clarence) Jonas, and Francis; and brother-in-law, Ray Terres.
