Linda was born in Sauk Centre on March 16th, 1954. She attended Saint Francis High School in Little Falls and graduated from the College of Saint Scholastica with a degree in Medical Technology. She worked for 42 years as a medical technologist first at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, and then at the Saint Cloud Hospital. Linda and her husband Ray attended grade school together, met again as adults, and fell in love. They married on May 26th, 1990 and celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last May.

She had many hobbies that brought her joy, including quilting, sewing, and singing as a member of the Worship Ensemble among others. She retired in 2018 and enjoyed having more time to gather with family and friends, volunteer at Saint Francis Xavier School, and watch daily Jeopardy. She was always ready to play games, especially a competitive game of Scrabble with Ray. She will forever be remembered for her kind and welcoming spirit, love of laughter, and thinking of others before herself.

Linda is survived by her husband Raymond Ley; her son Andrew Ley and fiancée Trista; her daughter Allison Ley and fiancé Kevin; siblings Ron (Jan) Stadtherr and Carol (Bob) Theisen; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Clara Stadtherr of Sauk Centre, and infant brother Kenneth.

Linda was a wonderful mentor and friend. I remember Linda sharing stories about her family and they would bring a smile. She will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to Linda’s family and friends.

Ray, Allison and Andrew – we cherish the times we had with Linda and Ray in Duluth, Nisswa, Sartell and Illinois visiting with Allison and Kevin. Linda was so cheerful and welcoming to us. We were amazed with her skill in crafting blankets, quilts and masks. Best wishes, our thoughts are with you.

Ray, Andrew and Allison. I am so sorry to hear about Linda’s passing. I was her “dorm mother” my senior year at St Francis HS when she was a Freshman. We enjoyed our common connections such as growing up near one another, Linda in Sauk Centre and myself in Elrosa. I teased her when she said that she had never seen a cow close up, just while driving by on the highway, when I grew up on a dairy farm with 100 cows. She was distantly related to my uncle’s wife, Delores Schreder Braun. From her obituary, I can see that she grew up to be a beautiful and lovely woman! My sincere condolences to all of her family.

My deepest sympathies to you, Ray, Andrew and Allison, and your family. Linda and I were close friends and lived together as roommates when she lived and worked in Duluth. My oldest son, Sebastian, called her “Auntie Linda” and remembers her little blue “bump bump car” she drove at that time. We had many happy times together…and Linda helped me overcome the fear of getting my blood drawn. No one better at that specific task in my experience! I had just reached out to Linda about six weeks ago to reconnect after all these years, and will hold her in my heart always. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Ray, Andrew & Allison, we were shocked and saddened to hear of Linda’s passing and convey our sympathies to each of you. I remember Linda from days at SFX school and recall that she was such a gentle, thoughtful person. I am so very sorry for your loss. Linda will be missed by all who knew her.
