Rita Maria Lanners

November 12, 1940 – January 31, 2020

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Clearwater, MN for Rita Maria Lanners.  She died on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Lakeside Health Care Center, Dassel.  The Reverend Dennis Backer will be the celebrant.  Inurnment will be at a later date at the Texas Bend Cemetery at Charleston, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.

Maria was born on November 12, 1940 in Cairo, IL the daughter of Gilbert and Fern (Anselm) Bryant.

She grew up in Charleston, MO and graduated from St. Henry High School.  She attended nursing school in Pensacola, FL, Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  She worked as a nurse in Hayti, Sikeston, Charleston, Cape Girardeau, St Louis, St. Charles, Wright City in Missouri and in El Paso, TX.  Maria was united in marriage to Arnold Lanners on June 21, 1997 in St. Charles, MO.

Maria was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Rapert; parents; sister, Marge Abner; and brother, Matthew.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold Lanners of Dassel and formerly of Clearwater; son, Aaron Rapert; two grandsons, Joseph Rapert and Blake Rapert all from Charleston;  stepdaughters, Karen (Tom) Carinci and Karla (Scott) Schmidt;  step grandsonsn Brody and Mason Schmidt; sisters, Mary (Bob) Miller of Charleston and Tudy (Tim) Kennedy of Prairie Village, KS; brother, Mike (Shirley) Bryant of Charleston; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The request that memorial donations be made to brain cancer research.
