William R. "Bill" Rau

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for William R. “Bill” Rau, age 100, of Sartell, formerly of Clear Lake.  Bill passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021 at the Country Manor in Sartell.  Reverend Joseph Backowski will officiate.  Burial will take place in the St. Marcus Parish Cemetery in Clear Lake with full military honors.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Bill was born March 6, 1921 in Benson, MN to Philip and Margaret (Jurek) Rau.  Served in the Army during WWII.  He married Clara Bormes on April 20, 1940 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Minden Township. He worked as a truck driver for Raymond Motors for 35 years. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.  He was a member of St. Marcus Catholic Church and Eastside VFW Post 4847.

Bill is survived by his sons Robert (Kay Marie) of Forest Lake, MN and Thomas (Carol) of Lenexa, KS, 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, sister Lilian Brakebusch of Idaho and special friend of 20 years Selma Reischl.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents, loving wife Clara, daughter Sharon Moore and great grandson Carter Herberg.

His pallbearers will be Dan Moore, Debbie King, Jim Moore, Brent Rau, Chad Moore, Isaiah Moore and honorary pallbearer Madeline Moore.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Country Manor.
