February 21, 1933 – June 23, 2017
A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Harriet E. Christenson, 84, of Sauk Rapids and formerly of Litchfield will be held from 4- 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. She passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Burial will be private.
Harriet was born on February 21, 1933 in Litchfield, Minnesota to Emil and Esther (Smith) Kohls. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1951. She married Charles Christenson on September 15, 1951 in Litchfield and they moved to St. Cloud shortly after. In addition to raising eleven children, she was employed at the St. Cloud Hospital for many years.
Harriet enjoyed playing cards, painting, bowling and crocheting.
She is survived by her children, Craig (Karen), Joe (Patty), Kevin (Matsuko), Marybeth Christenson, Daniel (Yoon), Jan DeShon, Nancy Christenson, Suzanne Schwappach (Larry), Andria Christenson (Brad Barthelemy), Steven (Jackie), and Stacey Christenson; twenty-five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; and sisters, Marion Braun and Norma Gabrielson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Chuck; granddaughter, Michaela Jones; brother, Kenny Kohls; and sister, Elaine Gabrielson.
Memorials are preferred to the Second Harvest Heartland Program Food Shelf.
