Death is our enemy and causes so much pain. 1corithians 15.26 tells of it’s end and a beautiful promise to see Christ resurrect Joey back to a clean earth. John 5:28-29 active young and same great personality!
Joseph P. Fontaine, Jr.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Joseph P. Fontaine, Jr., age 79, of Sartell, who passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Center. Reverend Gregory Lieser will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Joseph was born on August 5, 1937 to Joseph P. and Margaret (Corrigan) Fontaine, Sr in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Janice L. Larson on September 6, 1958. They were married for 59 years. Joe worked as a foreman for Quebecor until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Paul Biking Association and the Local 1M in St. Paul.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a proud and hardworking man who had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. Joe was an avid bicycler, who enjoyed going trail riding with his grandson. His favorite trail to ride was the James J. Root Trail leading to Duluth. Joe was also an avid motocross spectator and mechanic, acting as a “Pit Dad” for his son and friends during their races. Along with being a mechanic, Joe was also a handyman, able to make many repairs and additions to various homes. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to South Dakota, Nevada and Arizona. He was a very generous man, giving to many different organizations and charities and in sharing of his talents.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Joseph Phillip Fontaine III and Jeffery A. (Amy) Fontaine; grandchildren, Eric (fiancé Nikki Cerney) Fontaine and Alexandra Strong; great-grandson, Liam; siblings, Eileen Bender, and “Cookie” Fontaine; goddaughter, Ann Bender, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Robert Oscar and Margaret “Dolly” Ellen.
