Bob was born on October 13, 1949 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Alcuin and Alvina “Winnie” (Schwegel) Pfannenstein. He was a graduate of St. Cloud Technical High School and later attended St. John’s University. Bob worked as a stone mason for many years and then was employed at the Sartell Paper Mill until his retirement.

Bob was a man of many hobbies and interests including deer hunting, pan fish and walleye fishing, playing softball on the Sal’s Bar team and most recently playing pickleball.  Bob had an extremely outgoing and generous personality with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was bright, curious, and a life long learner who was always ready to help anyone in need. Bob had a wide and varied network of friends who, like his family, were all very important to him. He enjoyed spending time at his home away from home in Becida with family, friends and especially his grandson Jackson.

He is survived by his mother, Winnie; children, Jon and Nikki (Garrett) Bauer; grandson, Jackson; siblings, Denny (Jan), Jane (Jim) Brummer, Barb (Frank) Hallowell and Mary Jo (Ken) Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Alcuin and brother, Tom.

A special thank you to the staff of the St. Cloud Hospital and East Bank Hospital – University of Minnesota Medical Center for their excellent and compassionate care.

Bob always made you feel welcome when you showed up for Pickleball and always had a smile to share. His good natured and friendly manner will be missed by everyone who had a chance to know him.

Bobby was a good guy to visit with and if you needed any help, and he could offer some,he would try to do what he could,he loved telling stories, and had a great way of doing it too, his humor, and thoughts on things going on,made ya wonder why he did mason work for so long,i’ll miss him,as many who knew him will,,GOD’s blessings to all the Pfannenstein family,,stay strong and tell some jokes,,thats what he would want… R.I.P.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We will miss his smile and laughter as he visited us.

Mary Jo and Barb would speak of Bob often and with great enthusiasm. The stories were always fun to hear. My condolences to Mary Jo, Barb, and all the Pfannensteins
