Scott D. Jensen

Scott Dewey Jensen took his last breath and peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family and dear friend. While his family treasured being near, Scott was probably wondering how he could possibly sneak away to a back room with a newspaper as he could often be found at traditional family functions.

Scott was raised in Plymouth Minnesota, by his loving parents. After high school, Scott and his best friend set sail for the US Marines. Scott was incredibly proud of his military tenure as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Just like Napoleon, he’d say. Although incredibly fond of the Jensen family grocery business, Scott preferred spending his career years with the US Postal Service.

Scott was an avid collector of all things “neat”. He tinkered. He played practical jokes and had a seemingly infinite list of one-liners. He spent much of his leisure time on a never-ending quest to restore idyllic 1950’s airstream trailers. He enjoyed time with his family. He never found “Nessie” but spent a lot of time searching in Northern Canada with his brothers and son. Scott lived life the way he wanted to. There were “operations” and “programs” for everything. Even dinner. He loved a classic B.L.T., steaks on a weber grill, fajitas from Don Pablo’s, and black pepper on everything. Scott had few regrets, except perhaps not teaching his spoiled dog to sniff out cancer.

Scott’s memory continues to thrive through his loving wife, Luvette (Cortes); treasured children, Heather (Chad) Grinsteiner; Brian (Lindee) Jensen; and Sunnita Jensen; animated grandchildren; Afton and Harper Grinsteiner; first wife, Tammy (Fitzsimmons) Ackland; big brothers, George (Janice) Jensen, and Leonard Jensen Jr.; nieces; Jennifer Washburn and Jill Jensen; nephew: Erik Jensen; best friend and partner in crime, Don Christensen; disobedient but loving dog, Skunky; in addition to many co-workers, friends and neighbors.

Scott was preceded in death by his larger than life parents; Leonard and Dorothy (Larkin) Jensen Sr; favorite sister, Meredith (Pat) Carlson; and brother-in-law, Vince Carlson.

Visitation will be at 9:30am on Monday, January 25, 2016 with a celebration of life service starting promptly at 10:30am at Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater. Don’t be late, and keep it casual. Wear plaid! Scott wanted this service to be short with no frills. His revered pastor, Mike Loomis of Freedom Bible Church will officiate. Burial with military honors (and Taps!) will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Fisher House supporting wounded military servicemen and their families are preferred. Also, if you see a turtle trying to make it across the road, for the love, please just make sure it gets where it’s trying to go.
