Sylvia Reis

A Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 1 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph for Sylvia Reis, 79, of Avon, who passed away June 18, 2015. Burial will be at 12:00 noon in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. The Reverend Al Stangl will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday and from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Wednesday, both at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Prayers will be at 4:00 PM on Tuesday at the Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
Sylvia was born on May 19, 1936, on the home farm in Moran Township, rural Staples, MN, to Albert and Pauline (Magdziarz) Dukowitz. She graduated from Staples High School in 1954. She worked at IDS in Minneapolis for ten years where she met Jim Reis. They were married on July 3, 1961, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Jim and Sylvia moved to the farm in St. Wendel in 1968. Sylvia liked dancing, bowling, fishing, trips to casinos, animals, gardening, and spending time with family.
Sylvia is survived by: children, Suze (John) Muchow of Deephaven, Brian (Jenny) of Chanhassen, Allan (Sally) of Eagan, Loran (Karen) of Ham Lake, Sheila (Mike) Johnson of St. Wendel; 13 grandchildren; brothers Donald of Staples, Clifford (Eileen) of Kenosha, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, brothers David, Albert Jr., LeRoy, sisters Leona Supella, and Genevieve Sweeney.
“Mom, you were strong and courageous; you were a special person to everyone you met. You will be deeply missed by your family.”
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of the Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Progressive Care Unit and Medical Oncology Unit at the St. Cloud Hospital.
