Steven E. Olmscheid

June 26, 1955 – March 2, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Steven E. Olmscheid, 60, of Paynesville will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Steve passed away at home, with his loving family by his side, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Steve fought a courageous battle with cancer. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

 

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with Daniel- Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville.

Steve was born on June 26, 1955 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Joseph and Verena (Kampsen) Olmscheid. He grew up in Elrosa and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1973. After high school, Steve purchased his first milk truck and began his career as a milk hauler. Steve hauled for AMPI until his retirement. Steve married Jeanne L. Jaeger on June 9, 1990 at St. Louis Catholic Church. They resided in the Paynesville area where together they raised their four children. Steve was a member of St. Louis Parish and Catholic United Financial.

Steve was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, farming, snowmobiling and golfing. He also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family and friends, and visiting with farmers on his milk route. Steve treasured his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, parents and siblings. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and papa who will be dearly missed.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Stacy Flanders (Josh) of Paynesville, Jason Krupke (Angie) of St. Cloud, Stephanie Welle (Chris) of Mankato, Josh Krupke of St. Cloud; eight grandchildren; parents, Joe and Verena Olmscheid of Belgrade; brothers, Donnie (Audrey), Jim (Lorali), Mark and Ron “Butch” (Emmy) Olmscheid; sisters, Diane Dold (Ken), Rosann Braegelman (Dave), Mary Rath (Dennis), Deb Yoerg (Denny) and Lisa Meyer (Jim); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Norman Jaeger.

My deepest, sincere sympathy for the loss of Steve. His suffering has ended. I have many great memories of Steve from when he hung out with my parents when I was younger. My thoughts and prayers are being sent to all. God bless in this time of sadness.
