Kathleen L. "Katie" Mimbach

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Kathleen L. “Katie” Mimbach, age 96 of Sauk Rapids.  Katie passed away November 26, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Reverend Leroy Scheierl will officiate.  Entombment will take place in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud.

Visitation will take place from 4-8 pm on Friday, December 9 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.  Parish Prayers will be held at 4 pm. Visitation will be continued at 9:30 am on Saturday at the church.

Katie was born March 21, 1926 in St. Cloud to L.F. “Ted” and Alma (Weber) Kolb.  She was the oldest of three daughters.  She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and St. Cloud Tech High School graduating in 1944.  After graduation, she worked for 9 years as a bookkeeper at Northern States Power in St. Cloud.  In 1948, she met Mathias “Math” Mimbach at the Fairgrounds Ballroom. They both shared a love for dancing. On September 14, 1949, they were married at St. Mary’s Cathedral where Katie had been baptized and confirmed years before.  To this marriage, two sons were born, Mark and Mike.

After marriage, Math and Katie started Mimbach Produce in Sauk Rapids, later moving to Mayhew Lake Road where it became known as Mimbach Fleet Supply.  There she was the Office Manager until it sold to their employees in 1996.

Katie loved people, a visit or a phone call from a friend or family made her day.  She especially loved her time at Grand Lake. Those days go back to when she was four years old, and memories remained of times spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, 500 and Bridge. Sharing 66 years with Math, they enjoyed winters in Arizona, spear fishing on Lake Winnibigoshish, flower and vegetable gardening, and coffee and wine time with friends and neighbors.

Katie is survived by her sons; Mark (Debra) Mimbach of Sartell, and Mike (Nancy) of Hastings. Grandchildren; Matthew (Deja) Mimbach, Mitchell Mimbach, Michael Mimbach (Michelle), Jesse Mimbach, JoAnn Mimbach (Nick), Katie (Michael) Manthey Mimbach, and Mary Mimbach, and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceding Katie in death were her parents, husband Math, and her sisters; Myra Hagen and Elaine Kujawa.
