Thomas G. Krekelberg

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Thomas G. Krekelberg, age 55 of St. Cloud who passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at his home. Reverend David Grundman will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Joseph.
Tom was born March 24, 1960 in St. Cloud, Minnesota and was adopted by Richard and Benita “Bunny” (Bratlow) Krekelberg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Tom married Mary A. Zabinski on January 8, 2000 in Marty, Minnesota. He was employed as a Tax Preparer and Manager by H&R Block in St. Cloud retiring in 2013. He was a member of St. Michael’s Parish.
Tom was very passionate in his pursuit of excellence much of which translated into his woodworking. His various projects upon completion were donated to friends, family and neighbors. When not in his workshop he could be found on the lakes and spending time with family especially his grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jared (Melissa) of Apple Valley, Elizabeth of Sauk Rapids and Renee (Ryan) Bloch of Sauk Rapids; stepson, Nicholas Leason of Rockville; grandchildren, Morgan, Olivia and Kaden; mother, Benita “Bunny” Krekelberg of St. Joseph; brothers and sisters, Carol (Don) Honer of St. Joseph, Trudi (Jim) Krekelberg of Avon, Nick Krekelberg of Owatonna, Laura (Mark) Hemmesch of Richmond, Kurt (Ana) of St. Joseph, Trina (Glen) Faber of St. Joseph, Mike Schmidtbauer of Luxemburg, Gloria (Randy) Kremers of St. Cloud, Katie (John) Bowlin of Bathgate, North Dakota; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Krekelberg; sister, Linda Schmidtbauer.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
