Shirley Ann Hurd

Funeral Services celebrating the life of Shirley Ann Hurd, 78, of Sartell and formerly of Fergus Falls will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. Shirley passed away on Saturday, September 14th at the St. Cloud Hospital from complications due to pneumonia. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on July 24, 1935 in Bagley, Minnesota, to Elvin and Loretta (Olson) Boe. She graduated from Bagley High School in 1953 and worked for Ken Johnson Photography. On September 4, 1955, she married James Hurd and moved to Bemidji. Following Jim’s graduation from college, they moved to Little Falls where they managed the O’Meara’s clothing store for many years. In 1978 she attended real estate school and then worked as a manager for Century 21. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1987, where she continued her real estate career with Luhman Realty. After retiring in 2008, she moved to Sartell.
Shirley was a member of the Fergus Falls Elks, Eagles and VFW Auxiliary and the Minnesota Realty Association.

Shirley enjoyed painting crafts, golf, bridge, and reading. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by husband, Jim in 1992; parents; and brother, Gerald.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Linda) Hurd of Duluth, Kristin (James) Lanners of Sartell; grandchildren, Becca, Clara, and Nolan; brothers, Gary (Jan) of Redwood Falls, Scott (Connie) of Bagley; sisters-in-law, Carol (John) Lilyquist of Duluth, Janet (Glenn) Dorfman of Shoreview; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley’s family would like to thank the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home- Ace Unit, St. Cloud Hospital and family and friends for their care and support.
