My heartfelt condolences to your entire family. I will never forget your mother and her endearing faith she shared each day, her wonderful blue eyes and kind smile. December 18, 1923 – June 2, 2013

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Elizabeth G. “Betty” Orren, age 89, of St. Cloud who passed away June 2, 2013 after a long illness. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will take place after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Betty was born on December 18, 1923 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Edward and Antonia (Kaupa) Ethen. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941. She married Glen E. Orren on July 23, 1946 at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Betty worked for 18 years as a Medical Secretary in the St. Cloud Hospital Pathology Department. She also volunteered at the St. Cloud Hospital for over 20 years.
Betty was an avid golfer, serving as Past President of Wapicada Ladies League. She also loved to play Bridge. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella since April 23, 1959. She was the oldest playing member of the revived Cathedral High School Drum and Bugle Corps for the 1982 Homecoming Game. She was a charter member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and was the early church historian, editing the 15 year Dedication Booklet in 1961. She also belonged to St. Paul’s Christian Women and the Crosier Apostolate.
Betty is survived by her five wonderful children, Karen of Bloomington, Janice Brown of Buffalo, David (Peggy) of New Brighton, Connie of St. Cloud and Michael (Michele) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Krista (Jamie) Stevens, Amy (Brian) Cashatt, Kevin, Jennifer, Micky, and Catie Orren; great grandchildren, Jack, Claire and Ella Stevens, Andrew and Carter Cashatt; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Eva Ethen of St. Paul.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Glen; son-in-law, Mike Brown; brother, Maurice Ethen; sister, Roma Heurung; and infant sister, Genevieve.
Memorials are preferred to Cathedral High School, Poor Clares Monastery or All Saints Academy School.
