Marvin H. Theisen

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Marvin H. Theisen, age 79, of St. Cloud who passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Gregory Lieser will officiate. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus Bishop Zardetti Council #5548 prayer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marvin was born on June 24, 1933 in Rockville Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Peter and Caroline (Keppers) Theisen. He served honorably in the United States Army. Marvin married La Donna Hengel on May 22, 1956 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. He worked as a storekeeper for Northern States Power Company for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Bishop Zardetti Council #5548.
Marvin enjoyed working with his hands and particularly had a passion for woodworking. He was a regular blood donor for many years. He treasured the time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, La Donna; children, Mary (Rob) Paulsen, Deborah (Paul) Schmitt, Pat (Sue) Theisen, Judy (Dan) Dillman, Cindy (Shannon) Granzow, Kristi (Mike) Nielsen, and Gary Theisen; 20 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lucille Gross, Rosemary Koltes, Betty Cichon, Bernice Burnette, Marcellus Theisen, and Jim Theisen; and many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers, Viola Leither, Francis Theisen, Eileen Blonigen, and Vernon Theisen.
We would like to thank the Palliative Care Team at the St. Cloud Hospital for their guidance and especially thank the staff at the St. Cloud V.A. Medical Center for the exceptional care given to Marvin and his family.
